The Process
The process I use is designed to provide you with personalized service and exceptional value. This is not a one-size-fits-all solution. The services I provide are custom tailored to your unique situation.
Initial Consultation
The first step of the process is the initial consultation. Prior to our meeting, I may ask you to gather and provide me with certain information regarding your matter. During the initial consultation, I will ask a number of questions so that I can provide you with a recommendation and estimated cost. You will have time during the consultation to ask me questions, as well. The initial consultation usually lasts about one hour and there is a fee of $325. If you decide to hire me to represent you, I will include the cost of consultation as a part of the fee package.
Recommendation and Client Agreement
After the initial consultation, I will prepare a written recommendation and provide you with a client agreement. The client agreement sets forth the fee I will charge, the services I will provide and each of our responsibilities. Once you have executed the client agreement and made the initial payment, I will begin working on your matter.
Timing
Every matter will have a different timetable depending on the complexity and urgency of the situation. Very simple transactional matters may take less than a week, a complex estate plan could take several weeks and a business or non-profit start-up may take many months. We will discuss any expectations for timing, and I will be in touch with you throughout the process to provide updates and/or reminders as necessary so that your project keeps moving.
Questions and Additional Issues
While I am working on your matter, I may have additional questions for you or other relevant issues may come up. We will be able to handle most items over email, but we may determine it would be helpful to talk again. If an issue or complication arises that will drastically change the estimate of my fee, I will notify you, give you an estimate of any additional fees and obtain your consent in writing before proceeding with any work.
Final Consultation
When a matter is complete (or nearly complete), I will schedule a final consultation with you to review any open items, discuss material items in your documents and provide instructions for executing, filing and storing your documents (if necessary). I will then provide you with a letter stating that my representation of you is complete. However, I will contact you periodically to inquire as to whether there have been any changes in your situation that would require updating your documents. Any changes to your documents will require execution of a separate client agreement and an additional fee (to be discussed in advance).
Contract Templates
I also make contract templates available for small businesses and non-profit organizations who are not ready to hire me to create a custom contract.
Contract templates are a perfect fit if you’ve tried to write your own contract or borrowed one from a friend, but you’re not sure it includes all the right terms. You can customize my templates to the way you do business, and easily change them as your business grows. For more information regarding the services I provide and pricing, please see below:
